French Copy Editor

If you are a wizard with words, are bilingual in French and English, and know that good writing and good proofreading go hand in hand, then we want to hear from you!

Bayfield Design is recruiting a French language copy editor to its team of educators and creative professionals. We are looking for someone who has experience in the field of writing and copy-editing in French and a desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. As a copy editor, you will lead efforts to ensure Bayfield Design's products and communications are polished and concise—and ideally, throw in some creative flair along the way.

You will be responsible for copy-editing various types of content for videos and other media, elementary courses, high school courses, and more. With so much content being produced, we will rely on your exceptional French language skills to add creativity and quality assurance to our products and communications.

The Role

Bayfield Design is looking for a copy editor with the following qualities and qualifications:

  • A degree in French, Journalism, or equivalent certification or experience
  • Fully bilingual in French and English (written and spoken)
  • Two to three years of professional writing experience in French
  • Impeccable knowledge of grammar and spelling
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple requests from different teams with varying or overlapping deadlines
  • A truly collaborative nature and an eagerness to learn
  • A willingness to "own" your work and your areas of specialty, self-manage your time efficiently, and follow projects through independently

Typical Duties:

  • Copy-editing a variety of documents, including online courses, marketing material, training guides, and more
  • Managing quality assurance on all French material
  • Working with cross-functional teams to provide French copy-editing services as required
  • Working on platforms/programs that include content management systems, learning management systems, Office 365, and Adobe
  • Ensuring timelines are met and coordinating tasks for copy-editing projects
  • Providing suggestions for improvements in content where necessary

Content Developers (Remote Positions)

Bayfield Design, located in Bayfield, Ontario, is offering an exciting opportunity for innovative and creative educators and designers to join a team of content developers focused on building exceptional online learning experiences.

The content developer will be responsible for working on a range of development projects and initiatives at all levels. Current projects are underway at the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels, with a large elementary course development project starting this fall. Bayfield Design has a special interest in candidates with qualifications or experience at the elementary level in the following areas:

  • Health & Physical Education
  • Core French

The content developer will work as part of a team to write and/or develop and design course content for various projects. There are approximately 20 full-time, permanent positions available, with 20+ additional full-time set term contract positions available. Full-time and contract positions will be determined at Bayfield Design's discretion. All work will currently be completed remotely.

Salary: $43,000–$50,000 (commensurate on education and experience), group benefits program (available for permanent and contract positions), RRSP matching program (available for permanent positions).

All content developer positions are remote and allow successful applicants to work from home.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Bachelor of Education OR equivalent relevant experience/qualifications
  • Experience teaching in one or more of the subject areas identified
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines and specific project requirements
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team to complete tasks

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Experience teaching in the classroom and online
  • Experience working with curriculum at different levels and/or from different jurisdictions
  • Additional education or experience in online learning, education technology, or related fields
  • Experience with HTML programming or experience with course/content development software
  • 2–5 years' experience in education, technology, or related field
  • Experience in curriculum development and/or program planning
  • Demonstrated experience with online learning management systems

IT Specialist

Bayfield Design is looking for an IT Specialist to join its growing technology team. As a developer and publisher of online educational content, Bayfield Design wants to hear from tech gurus eager to bring their expertise to the company.

At Bayfield Design, the IT Specialist is responsible for installing, configuring, securing, and maintaining the company's network infrastructure including on-premises Windows servers, Windows workstations, mobile devices, network peripherals, and related software. The IT specialist will also manage digital subscriptions for the company including Microsoft Office 365. The IT specialist position will also provide cloud infrastructure support to software development teams.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a server and network management role in a midsize environment is required.
  • Server and Network certifications are preferred: CCNA, Microsoft, ITIL, etc.
  • Strong experience installing and maintaining Windows servers.
  • Strong experience supporting and maintaining Active Directory (group policy, etc.).
  • Strong experience monitoring, supporting and deploying LAN/WAN networking gear (firewalls/switches).
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Microsoft Office 365 installations.
  • Excellent understanding of server and network security.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services is a plus.

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN network hardware and peripherals.
  • Maintain, update, and troubleshoot Windows Server, Active Directory, Windows Workstations.
  • Procure, provision, monitor, and maintain Windows workstations and mobile devices.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot company softphone system.
  • Administer, monitor, and manage AWS services including S3, RDS, API Gateway, ECS, EC2, CloudFront, and Lambda.
  • Interface with vendors and service providers on projects and support contracts.
